Open Access Content (2009 workshop)

Open Access Content, Simmons College (continuing education for librarians), 2009/05/16, 9:00am – 12:30pm –

“‘Open access’ licenses have been popping up everywhere, from fiction to scholarly content to software to art of all kinds. Learn how your library can effectively use the wealth of open access content. What exactly is the difference between ‘open access,’ ‘Creative Commons,’ and ‘public domain’? What can your library, and your members, do with them? How do you find content with various licenses? Are these licenses enforceable by law? What can you put in your library catalog? Students will become familiar with major licenses, the rights they permit and restrict, how to find them, and how to make them available to users.”
